The Osteopathy Board of Australia (the Board) has published a fact sheet on Professional indemnity insurance (PII) requirements as they remind practitioners to check their PII.
‘Registered health practitioners, including osteopaths, must hold appropriate PII to practise, it’s a requirement of the National Law and is an important way we keep the public safe’, said Board Chair, Nikole Grbin.
‘We’ve seen an increase in the number of cases relating to non-compliance with PII and many of these are avoidable. We’re strongly encouraging practitioners to familiarise themselves with the PII requirements and to check if they’re appropriately covered.
‘The Board’s published a fact sheet about PII requirements that includes information about who needs to have PII, how to meet the requirement and what to do if you find you’re not appropriately covered.
‘With registration renewal open until 30 November, now is a good a time to check your PII as you’ll need to declare that you won’t practise until you meet the PII registration standard’, Nikole said.
You can read the Fact sheet: Professional indemnity insurance requirements on the Board’s website.
